Claude Duet

Claude Duet is a separate app from Anthropic in which Claude works as a proactive assistant rather than a chat window you have to open. Each morning it sends a brief on what changed across the apps you have connected, then keeps watching them during the day and only interrupts when something actually needs you.

You can also hand it work by message, from booking a meeting to building a dashboard, a forecast, a slide deck or a small web app, and it reports back when the job is done. Because it runs on a virtual machine in the cloud, it keeps going while your laptop or phone is off.

Duet reaches the rest of your tools through the Claude Marketplace, which lists more than 6,000 connectors and plugins, among them Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, HubSpot, Docusign, Canva and Shopify. Your existing Claude memory, skills and apps carry over.

The guardrails are explicit: it asks for approval before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, and it cannot trade securities or move money between accounts. Purchases go through Stripe Link virtual cards or Shop Pay. A dedicated classifier blocks requests to share card or government ID numbers, and other sensitive details are shared only on your explicit instruction.

Duet launched on October 21, 2026 as a research preview, powered by Claude Opus 5.5. Access is by waitlist for US Pro and Max subscribers, on iOS, Android and claude.ai. There is no separate charge during the preview; it draws on the same usage limits as the rest of your plan, and background checks and large tasks use more of them. Anthropic lists known limits: it can misjudge urgency, handles personal errands less well, and you cannot yet watch its browser.
