AutoCrit

AutoCrit is a web-based writing and self-editing platform for authors preparing a manuscript for an editor, agent or self-publishing. You write or import a book into its editor, plan alongside it with digital noteboards and cards, and then run analysis tools that flag pacing, dialogue, adverbs, word choice, repetition and readability, with guidance benchmarked against published fiction and a Summary Report that scores the draft and lists recommendations. Genre comparisons show how your style sits next to books in fantasy, mystery, romance, science fiction and other genres.

The AI features are aimed at feedback rather than ghostwriting. Automated alpha readers give a quick read on whether an outline or early draft fits its genre and tone, and beta readers produce detailed impressions of a polished draft, highlighting the passages they liked and disliked with links back into the text. You can pick ready-made reader profiles such as a cozy-mystery or fantasy reader, or build your own, and later reads take earlier drafts into account. An AI assistant in the Story Builder and Inspiration Studio suggests ideas while planning, and Story Analyzer+ looks at structure and emotional beats chapter by chapter.

The free plan has the full writer with no word limits and a subset of editing tools. AutoCrit Pro costs $30/month, or $15/month billed annually, and unlocks the 25+ editing reports, AI alpha and beta readers, Story Analyzer+, Market Fuel, ePub and PDF formatting and a members' community.
