Squibler

What it is

Squibler is a web app for writing books, novels and screenplays with an AI co-writer. You describe an idea in a prompt box ("What will you write today?") and Squibler generates a structured first draft, organised into chapters and scenes for a book or into formatted scenes and dialogue for a screenplay. The draft then opens in an editor with an outline on the left and an agentic chat on the right, where you ask for brainstorming, outlining, drafting, summarising, revising or reviewing and accept or reject each suggestion. You can also start from a blank page or import an existing draft.

Key features

• Full-length generation: a whole book draft (the Plus plan advertises 200 to 300 pages) or a complete screenplay from a premise, genre and core elements. An upgraded writing agent shipped in October 2026 for longer books and screenplays and requested word counts.
• Outline generation: maps structure, pacing and character progression before or after you draft.
• AI chat tools: Draft, Brainstorm, Outline, Revise and Review modes in the side panel, plus custom instructions and a writer persona in Settings.
• Inline editing: select text to Expand, Rephrase, Condense, apply Show Don't Tell, or Visualise it.
• Elements: structured characters, places and items that the AI references to keep details consistent across chapters.
• Visuals: generate images or short video clips from highlighted passages for storyboards or promotion.
• Project tools: import PDF, Markdown or TXT drafts, version history with restore, and export to PDF and DOCX.

Who it's for

Novelists, screenwriters and memoir or non-fiction authors who want the AI to produce a complete first draft quickly and then revise it with them, rather than writing every line themselves. Writers who want fine control over prompts and models will find it more opinionated than BYOK tools.
