Attyn

Attyn is a macOS app that puts a language model where you are already typing instead of behind a separate chat window. You select text in any application, tell Attyn what the moment needs, and it rewrites in place; you hold a shortcut and speak, and the transcript lands in the field you were already in.

What it does

• Inline Assist — select text anywhere and describe the change; Attyn transforms it where it sits rather than returning a block you have to paste back.
• Realtime Dictation — speech goes straight into the active field, in raw or formatted form.
• Screen Assist — circle something you do not understand on screen and get an explanation in context.
• Blackboard — ask for a visual explanation and Attyn draws it out on a dedicated board.

How the model runs

Attyn deliberately separates the price of the software from the price of inference. You can connect your own provider API key, buy Attyn Credits, or point it at a local model — so a privacy-sensitive workflow can stay on-device while everything else uses a frontier model.

Pricing

Dictation is free forever with an account. Inline Assist is $5/month (regularly $10); "Rent Everything", which unlocks all four features, is $15/month (regularly $25). There is also a one-time "Own Attyn" licence at $100 (regularly $199) with no recurring charge. Credit packs start at $5 for 5,000 credits and scale with a bonus up to $50 for 55,000.

Requirements and caveats

macOS on Apple silicon only at launch; a Windows build is advertised as coming soon with a waitlist. Because Inline Assist and Screen Assist read the active window, expect to grant accessibility and screen-recording permissions.
