Slack AI

What it is

Slack AI is the set of generative AI features built into Slack, Salesforce's team messaging app. Slack now markets it as "AI in Slack". It works on the conversations, files and connected apps already in a workspace, so you can catch up, search and automate without leaving Slack. It is not a separate product: AI features are included in Slack's paid plans, and higher tiers get more of them.

Key features

• Channel and thread summaries. Catch up on a busy channel or long thread in one click, with numbered references to the source messages.
• Huddle notes. AI notes for Slack huddles (audio and video calls), with transcripts, key takeaways and action items.
• Slackbot. A personal AI agent that understands your conversations, files and projects. It can help you prepare for meetings, analyse reports and draft project briefs. Plan limits apply.
• AI search. Ask a question in the search bar and get an answer drawn from conversations and shared files, with citations. On Enterprise+, enterprise search also covers connected apps and systems such as Google Drive and Salesforce.
• Daily recaps and file summaries. A daily digest of what is happening across your teams and projects, plus summaries of documents shared in Slack.
• AI in Workflow Builder. Describe an automation in a sentence to generate a workflow, or add AI steps such as recurring channel summaries.
• Translations and explanations. Translate messages into your preferred language, and get explanations of team jargon and acronyms.
• Agents. Salesforce's Agentforce agents and third-party AI apps can work inside channels, threads and DMs.

Slack says customer data is not used to train large language models, and that the models are hosted in Slack's own AWS virtual private cloud. Based on its internal pilot, the company says users save an average of 97 minutes a week.

Who it's for

Teams that already run their work in Slack and lose time catching up on channels, hunting for past decisions or writing up meetings. Enterprise search and Agentforce are aimed at larger organisations, especially Salesforce customers.

Pricing

The free Slack plan does not include these AI features. As listed on slack.com/pricing in October 2026, in US dollars:

• Pro: $7.25 per user per month billed annually, or $8.75 billed monthly. Includes AI conversation summaries and huddle notes.
• Business+: $15 per user per month billed annually, or $18 billed monthly. Adds Slackbot, AI search, daily recaps, file summaries and AI workflow generation.
• Enterprise+: pricing from Slack's sales team. Adds enterprise search across connected apps.
