Description
What it is
Mem is an AI note-taking app from Mem Labs that now has two parts: Mem Workspace, where notes, meeting transcripts, voice captures and web clips live, and Mem Agent, an assistant that reads that material and follows up on it. The company describes the Agent as an "AI chief of staff": it picks out tasks and projects from the notes you create or edit, keeps a running picture of what is open, and checks in when something needs attention.
Key features
- Capture: a Markdown editor with collapsible headings and an AI clean-up step for rough notes; Voice Mode, which records a meeting or a spoken brain dump and turns it into a structured note with the transcript attached; a web clipper; and Push-to-Remember, a hold-to-talk shortcut on Mac and Windows that sends a spoken thought to the Agent from any app.
- Meetings: with a calendar connected, Mem tells you when a meeting starts and can take notes without a bot joining the call, then keeps the summary and next steps.
- Organisation: Collections that Mem can fill for you, a "Heads Up" side panel that shows related people, projects and notes, and Deep Search, which finds notes by meaning rather than exact words.
- Agent: task and project tracking across your notes, custom routines that run on a schedule (for example a weekly briefing or research note), and connections to outside sources such as Gmail, Slack and Todoist on paid plans. You can also message Mem through external channels such as WhatsApp or email.
- Other AI tools: an MCP connector lets Claude and ChatGPT search, read and create Mem notes.
- Apps and export: web app, iOS, Mac and Windows apps, and one-click export of notes and collections to Markdown.
Who it's for
Founders, consultants, managers and other individuals who take a lot of notes and meetings and want an assistant to track follow-ups for them. Mem announced SOC 2 Type II compliance in January 2026. Its pricing FAQ says data is encrypted in transit and at rest but not end-to-end encrypted, because Mem has to process notes to run its AI features. The company says it does not let third parties train on user data.
Pricing
As listed on the pricing page in October 2026, all plans are monthly, and limits reset each billing period:
- Free: 25 messages to Mem, 25 new notes, task tracking across 25 notes and 3 hours of Voice Mode.
- Plus: $9/month for 50 messages and notes and 10 hours of Voice Mode.
- Pro: $29/month for 100 messages and notes, one custom routine, one connection and 25 hours of Voice Mode.
- Pro 2×, 5×, 10× and 20×: $49, $99, $149 and $199/month, each scaling those allowances (Pro 20× includes 2,000 messages and notes, 20 routines and 20 connections). Pro 20× can add Extra Usage in $50/month blocks.
Deep Search and templates are on every plan. Mem says team plans with shared notes and central billing are available by contacting the company.
