Description
Hex is a data analytics and BI workspace built for data teams and the people who depend on them. At its core is a notebook that mixes SQL, Python, no-code cells and charts in one document, connected directly to warehouses and databases such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Postgres and ClickHouse, with dbt and orchestration integrations alongside.
AI is built into each layer. The Notebook Agent writes SQL, builds charts and drafts whole analyses inside a notebook. Threads gives business users conversational analytics: they ask a question in plain language, in Hex or in Slack, and get an answer grounded in the team's endorsed data. The agent can also build generative data apps and dashboards from a prompt, which analysts can then edit as code and share with built-in permissions. Context Studio and Evals let the data team manage what the agent knows and test its answers, and a CLI, API and MCP support let outside agents work with Hex too.
In October 2026 the company released Hex 4.0, a from-scratch rewrite around the idea that everything is code, alongside a $100M funding round.
Pricing: Community is free for small projects; Professional is $36 per editor per month; Team is $75 per editor per month with a 14-day trial, adding unlimited published apps, scheduled runs and alerts; Enterprise is custom, with SSO, audit logs, HIPAA and an embedded analytics add-on. Paid plans include medium compute, with larger CPU and GPU profiles billed per minute.
