Description

Ask an agent for SEO advice and it will improvise: plausible keywords, invented volumes, confident guesses about what ranks. OpenSEO's MCP server replaces the guessing with measurements. It is the agent-facing half of OpenSEO, the open-source alternative to Ahrefs and Semrush, and it hands an agent the same data the web interface shows.

What the tools cover

Keyword research with search volume, difficulty and CPC; live Google SERP fetches so an agent can see who currently ranks rather than assuming; domain analysis and organic keyword discovery; backlink and referring-domain data; rank tracking over time; local business search near a set of coordinates; and Google Search Console metrics — clicks, impressions, CTR and average position — alongside URL index-status and canonical checks in batches of up to ten.

Connecting

A hosted HTTP endpoint at https://app.openseo.so/mcp, with no API key to paste. The first connection opens an OpenSEO login in your browser, and afterwards the client calls tools within the project context and account scopes you approved. Works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop as a custom connector, Cursor, Codex CLI and other MCP clients.

Self-hostable

OpenSEO is MIT-licensed and runs on Docker or Cloudflare against your own DataForSEO key, so the same MCP surface is available from a deployment you control. Eight companion Agent Skills — keyword research, clustering, competitor analysis, site audit, link prospecting and more — give agents documented procedures on top of the raw tools.
