Description

Framer MCP is the official Model Context Protocol server from Framer, the website builder. It lets an AI agent running outside Framer's editor work directly on your Framer projects, so you can brief Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or Codex in plain language and watch pages take shape on the canvas.

What it can do
  • Build and edit pages. Create and change layouts across desktop, tablet and phone breakpoints while reusing the styles and components already in your project.
  • Manage CMS content. Create and update collections and items, which suits bulk content imports and programmatic blog or catalogue pages.
  • Review SEO. Inspect metadata, headings, alt text and page structure; pair it with another SEO MCP server in the same client for deeper audits.
  • Work on a branch. Changes stay in the project until published, and Framer recommends having the agent work on a branch you compare with main before merging. An agent only publishes if you explicitly ask.

Everything the agent produces remains fully editable in the Framer canvas, so designers and developers can take over at any point.

Setup

The server is hosted at https://mcp.framer.com/mcp and speaks remote Streamable HTTP with OAuth: add the URL to any client that supports it, approve the connection in the browser window that opens, and the agent gets the permissions of that Framer account across the projects it can access. Framer offers one-click setup for several clients and guides for VS Code, Windsurf, Warp and others. Some organisations require a workspace admin to approve MCP connections.

Good to know

AI usage is billed through your own AI client, not by Framer. Localization is not supported yet; the older External Agents CLI (@framer/agent) remains available for teams that need it.
