Riverside solves a problem that predates AI: remote recordings sound and look as bad as the worst connection on the call. It records each participant's audio and video locally on their own device at full quality and uploads the tracks in the background, so a dropout during the conversation degrades the live monitor but not the master files. That single architectural decision is why podcasters and video teams use it instead of recording a video call.

Layered on top is a production pipeline that has become the larger half of the product. The AI clip finder scans a finished recording for the passages likely to travel, then cuts them, reframes them vertically and burns in captions — a full set of social clips from one session without opening a timeline. A prompt-driven editor takes instructions in plain language ("cut the first two minutes", "strip the filler words", "add our branding") and applies them, with the same project available in a conventional multitrack desktop editor when you need frame-level control. The same agent will generate a thumbnail, a transcript, show notes and a blog post from the recording.

For live work, Riverside multistreams a single session to YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Twitch, TikTok and custom RTMP endpoints simultaneously. The mobile app records solo or with a remote guest, includes a teleprompter and a shot stabiliser, and doubles as a second camera angle for a desktop session. Projects sync both ways, so an edit started on a laptop can be reviewed and commented on from a phone.

The free tier gives two hours of multitrack recording at 720p with a watermark, unlimited single-track recording and video calls, and access to the AI editing tools. Pro (from $24/month billed annually, $29 monthly) removes the watermark, raises output to 4K and 48 kHz, adds five multitrack hours a month, the teleprompter and podcast hosting. Grow ($34/$39) takes that to fifteen hours and adds livestreaming to unlimited destinations, social scheduling and newsletters; a Webinar tier ($79/$99) and a custom Business plan cover registrant-scale events, SSO and compliance.
