OpenWork

OpenWork is a free, open-source desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux, built on OpenCode, that lets people work with AI agents directly on their own files instead of inside a closed, single-vendor product. It's positioned as an open alternative to Claude Cowork and Codex: the same agentic, multi-step task execution, but working with 50+ LLMs from any provider and keeping files on the user's own machine rather than routed through one vendor's infrastructure.

Beyond the desktop app, OpenWork ships an MCP server that any compatible client, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT, can add once to reuse the same skills, MCP connections, and services across tools, teammates, and machines. It exposes two tools, one to discover available capabilities and one to execute them, and after installation it opens a browser sign-in so a user can select their OpenWork organization. For teams, OpenWork Den is a control-plane admin interface for provisioning inference at scale, managing who can use which model providers, publishing skills and plugins through internal marketplaces, and importing Anthropic-compatible plugins so their skills and remote MCPs become available org-wide.

The desktop app and core are MIT-licensed and free to self-host with your own provider keys; team features layer on top with a Starter plan (first 5 seats free, then $10/seat/month) and custom Enterprise pricing with SSO and bring-your-own inference. It's aimed at individuals and teams who want Cowork-style agentic workflows without being locked into a single AI vendor.
