Filmora is Wondershare's video editor for desktop and mobile, positioned between phone apps that are too limited and professional NLEs that are too steep. It has been shipping since 2016 and has spent the last few releases folding generative and assistive AI into an otherwise conventional timeline editor, which is the reason to look at it now.

The AI toolset. AI Auto Cut assembles highlight moments from long footage into a first cut. AI Remover erases unwanted objects and people from video, not just stills. Image to Video animates photographs from a text prompt, and Text to Video generates a clip with AI-written copy and subtitles. Dynamic Captions transcribes speech into word-by-word animated captions, the format short-form platforms favour, and Text to Speech turns scripts into voiceovers. Smart Cutout handles rotoscoping by finger swipe, with strokes, overlays and background replacement on the keyed subject, and there is generated music and sound design to fill out a soundtrack.

Who it suits. Social and short-form creators publishing to TikTok, Instagram and similar platforms, plus small teams and educators who need a capable editor without an Adobe-tier learning curve. Projects move between the desktop and mobile versions, so a rough cut made on a phone can be finished on a laptop.

Pricing. The mobile app is a free download with subscription tiers unlocking the full effect and AI feature set; desktop is sold separately by Wondershare on subscription or perpetual licence. Exports on the free tier are watermarked. The iOS app requires iOS 13 or later and holds a 4.7-star average across roughly 90,000 ratings.
