Description

BashCut is a native macOS video editor built on AVFoundation, and its bundled bashcut-mcp server exposes everything the UI does to MCP clients such as Claude Desktop and Codex. About 140 commands cover a layered timeline (video, overlay, text, sticker, adjustment, voiceover, music and SFX), split, trim, ripple delete, speed ramps, keyframed motion, transitions, word-by-word captions with local Whisper transcription, LUT-based color grading and export.

Projects are plain JSON next to your footage, and every agent edit goes through the same atomic, undoable operations as the interface, so changes appear in History and can be reverted. Dry runs let an agent preview an edit first. Because preview and export share one composition engine, what the agent edits is what renders. It works with your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription rather than a separate AI bill. Requires macOS 14 or later; install with Homebrew (brew install --cask dongnguyenvie/tap/bashcut) or run bashcut agent setup claude to register the server. MIT licensed.
