Cody

What it is

Cody is Sourcegraph's AI coding assistant. It answers questions about code and writes and edits it, using Sourcegraph's code search to pull context from local and remote repositories. Since July 2025 it has been available only to Sourcegraph Enterprise customers.

Status

On June 25, 2025, Sourcegraph stopped new sign-ups for Cody Free and Cody Pro and removed Cody from new Enterprise Starter workspaces. Free, Pro and Enterprise Starter access ended on July 23, 2025. Sourcegraph pointed individual users to Amp, its agentic coding tool, which has its own listing on onei.ai. Cody Enterprise was not affected, and its documentation still lists current Claude, Gemini and GPT models. Sourcegraph's website and pricing page now lead with code search, Deep Search and agent tooling rather than Cody.

Key features

• Chat with codebase context: the open file and repository are included by default. Use @-mentions to add specific files, symbols, remote repositories or non-code artifacts.
• Model choice: chat with Anthropic, Google or OpenAI models. Site admins choose the available models and can bring their own keys.
• Autocomplete and auto-edit: auto-edit proposes the next changes based on your cursor position and recent edits.
• Smart Apply: applies code from chat to your files.
• Prompt Library: reusable, shareable prompts with tags, which you can run in the IDE or the web app.
• Admin controls: context filters keep chosen repositories out of chat and autocomplete, and admins set how long IDE access tokens last.

Clients are VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio (experimental), the Sourcegraph web app and a Cody CLI (experimental). Sourcegraph says it does not use customer data to train models.

Who it's for

Engineering organisations that already run Sourcegraph Enterprise and want an assistant that draws on their whole codebase. Individual developers can no longer sign up.

Pricing

As listed on Sourcegraph's pricing page in October 2026, there is one Enterprise plan. It starts at $16K as a minimum annual contract and includes credits for AI features that scale with team size. Cody is not priced separately; contact Sourcegraph sales for access.
