Description

Feynman is an open-source research agent aimed at scientists rather than general knowledge work. It runs as a command-line tool with an optional local web workbench (feynman serve), and orchestrates multi-agent workflows for deep research, literature review, paper ranking and replication planning — with citations carried through so a claim can be traced back to its source.

What separates it from a generic web-search agent is paper access. Feynman resolves identifiers across DOI, arXiv, OpenAlex and PubMed, and ships tooling for the life sciences specifically, connecting to AlphaXiv, PubMed, ChEMBL and UniProt among others. That turns "find the relevant papers, rank them, and tell me what replicating this would take" into one workflow instead of a dozen browser tabs.

The workbench adds project management on top: sessions and their metadata, artifact previews for PDFs, notebooks, LaTeX and chemistry sketches, provenance and lineage tracking across a project's outputs, and execution and verification logs. Files can live locally, on a machine reached over SSH, or in cloud storage.

Model choice is yours. Alongside hosted providers, Feynman speaks to LM Studio, Ollama, LiteLLM and vLLM, so the whole pipeline can run against local weights.

Install with the one-line macOS/Linux or Windows installer, or npm install -g @advaitpaliwal/feynman. There is also a skills-only install for dropping the research capabilities into another agent. Feynman is MIT licensed and free to use; you supply your own model access.
