ElevenReader is ElevenLabs' consumer-facing listening app, and the clearest demonstration of what its speech models sound like outside a developer API. You point it at something to read — a PDF, a Word or ePub file, a pasted block of text, a web article link — and it narrates it in a voice you pick from a library of more than a thousand, spanning over thirty languages and a wide range of accents and delivery styles.

Alongside the bring-your-own-document workflow sits a licensed catalogue: bestselling audiobooks and eBooks, plus a large public-domain shelf (Pride and Prejudice, Frankenstein, Moby Dick, The Odyssey and thousands more) that costs nothing to listen to. A set of licensed "iconic voices" — Michael Caine, Judy Garland, Richard Feynman, Maya Angelou among them — narrate selected classics, which is the app's most distinctive party trick.

The reading features are where it earns a place in a study workflow rather than a commute. Text is highlighted word by word as it plays, which is the accessibility affordance that makes it genuinely useful for dyslexia and ADHD; playback runs from 0.25x to 4x; a pronunciation dictionary fixes names and jargon the model gets wrong; bookmarks carry notes; downloads work offline; and position syncs across phone, tablet and web. Voice Design lets you construct a narrator rather than pick one.

The app is free, including the public-domain library and a monthly allowance of text-to-speech on your own files. An Ultra membership adds the paid audiobook and eBook catalogue, unlimited narration of your own documents, offline mode and voice design. It runs on iOS, Android and the web, and is built on the same models ElevenLabs sells through its API — so the voice quality here is a fair preview of what that API produces.
